How many times do you get a chance to review a book by an author who happens to be a friend too?

I have this opportunity, after laying my hands into a compilation of Haibun by Somsubhra Banerjee titled: Reminiscence- A collection of Haibuns

To say in few words, I am overwhelmed. 

A compilation which is enveloped with optimum emotions in every page, where the author brings alive little snippets of his childhood days, with eloquence and vivid imagery. I lived in ,those moments.

Let it be his anecdote about his bonding with his father, spending quality time in his terrace with his grandmother, enjoying the star studded night during load shedding, his train journeys from his yesteryears, viewed from the perspective as an adult, keeping the child in the narration, un-adulterated.

One Haibun, spectacularly, has made its home in me. 

It’s named ‘ That gorgeous long distance train’, a heartwarming, subtle narration as to how dreams change residence, moving from one set of eyes to another, with passage of time, and when you see that flicker and a little part of you, even from a distance ,you are touched by its synchronicity, 

This powerful narrative gave me some almost lachrymose moments.

The book released two years back, and anybody familiar with Somsubhra’s writings, have definitely found it by now.
